Position: Sun UNIX Administrator  

 

Location: Charleston, WV

 

Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000 - Commensurate with Experience

This position is classified: exempt

 

Duties:

 

Successful candidate will be working in a dynamic environment as a UNIX administrator using Solaris 8 and Solaris 10. Candidate will be responsible for managing UNIX and SUN servers in enterprise data center environment, including providing day-to-day business hour, non-prime on-call, or call in system administration support to assigned systems. Duties include:

·         Manage, develop (as needed), test, and implement new deployments of systems

·         Test and evaluate hardware as needed

·         Maintain system documentation ((i.e.  As-Built for each application)

·         Perform routine server maintenance

·         Maintain production schedules

·         Perform hardware/software diagnostics

·         Maintain server software versions

·         Respond to and resolve customer problems

·         Setting up new Sun servers and performing general server administration work

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated success in implementing and maintaining systems using appropriate skills and tools: Solaris 8-10 to include Solaris 10 Zones, SunOne web server, SunOne directory server, Sun Cluster 3.1, Jumpstart, Solaris Volume Manager/Solstice Disk Suite, Veritas Volume Manager.
  • Use of Windows products: Microsoft Project, Visio, Microsoft Terminal Services, Microsoft SNA Manager.
  • The ability to lift and rack and un-rack servers.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent experience

Minimal, if any.
